Milling White Oak Lumber

"ARMY'S NAVY" on the water

Centreboard Trunk - Remove & Replace

Looking at starboard side of centreboard trunk. You can see the side has some major splits.
This is the port side of the centreboard trunk. Here you can see splitting on the side of the trunk and a knot in the wood in the middle of the trunk.
Looking at the aft section on the top of the centreboard trunk. The wood has split here and a filler has been applied.

Seats - Strip & Refinish with 8 coats Epifanes varnish

Coaming - Repair cracks, sand and repaint

Ribs - Remove cotton caulking, remove and replace 20 ribs, refasten and re-caulk with cotton caulking, repaint inside and out

There is a run of cracked ribs at the turn of the bilge on the port side. The planking is not fair in this area.
The ribs are generally soft where water has been sitting in the bilge under the floorboards. They are also broken in a number of places.
Here there is a missing section of rib. It is backed up by a sister rib that has rotted so has very little strength in this area.
Looking forward to the starboard of the centreboard trunk. The ribs are extremely soft at the arrows and are soft at the lower ends in the bilge.

Keel - Remove & Replace

This is looking aft near the aft lifting ring. The keel is quite soft in this area, I could put an awl right through the keel with very little effort.
This is looking forward towards the centreboard trunk. Notice the difference between the port and stb sides of the keel under my rule. There is a gap under the stb side, none under the port. The ribs are rotten and broken in this area.
Cracked and rotten ribs just aft of centreboard trunk. Notice how the hull is distorted at the keel.
Another view showing the unfairness at the keel.

Stern Knee - Remove & Replace

Picture
The stern knee sounds and feels a little soft at the keel joint and where it is notched for the rib. I am assuming I will find it to be rotten when I remove the keel.

Deck - Remove & Replace with 'glass and epoxy over marine plywood, finished with anti-skid coating

Missing piece at the bow to be repaired.

Rubails - Remove & Replace

Port rubrail has been scarfed and had a repair with filler
Starboard rubrail looks like it may have been damaged in the past and has rotted in the damaged area.
